FAQ

What kind of Life Groups exist?

Married Couples, Singles, Married & Single, and College.

When and where do Life Groups meet?

Groups have two options for meeting:

  • They can meet on the 1st, 3rd, & 5th Sunday nights of each month.  Sunday evening services are not held on these evenings.
  • They can meet weekly or bi-weekly any time excluding Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings when services are held.

Groups can meet in the leader's home or in the home of another group member.

What is the format of a Life Group?

Though each group will differ in how they do things, group time consists of building relationships, biblical discussion, and prayer.

What is the length of a Life Group gathering?

Groups typically meet for one and a half to two hours.

How long does a Life Group last?

The total duration of a typical Life Group is between 18-24 months.  Groups initially commit to meet for six sessions.  After that, however, group members decide if they want to continue meeting together for the remaining months.  The group will then multiply at the end of this period.

What is multiplication and why is it done?

During the term of the group, the group leader will train an apprentice to be the leader of a new group.  After the 18-24 month period, the leader will take half the current group, and the apprentice (after becoming an approved leader) will take the other half of the group.  They will both add more members to their respective new groups.  This multiplication allows opportunity for more people within JRA to be involved in a Life Group.

Is childcare provided for each Life Group?

Childcare is not provided but a supplemental reimbursement is available (at a predetermined rate) for babysitters when needed.  Reimbursement forms can be obtained at the Life Group gathering and must be mailed or faxed to JRA within 30 days of the incurred expense.

What do Life Groups study?

New groups are given a free starter study provided by JRA.  After that, each group picks their own curriculum to study with the help of their Group Director.  Curriculum is divided into three categories:  Love, Live, Lead.  Each category contains JRA approved curriculum from which the groups can choose.  Groups are asked to move through all three categories within the lifespan of their group.  Curriculum

How does someone join a Life Group?

  • Through a personal invitation from a Life Group leader who is starting a new group.
  • At a Group Link event.  Group Link is a periodic event where people of similar age and geographical location connect with one another.  Both new leaders and those whose groups have multiplied are afforded the opportunity to connect with new individuals for the purpose of forming new Life Groups.  Register for the next Group Link.

How does someone become a host home?

When signing up to join a group, people can specify if the are interested in hosting the group in their home.  While this does not guarantee someone will become a host, this information is beneficial when new leaders are looking for host homes.
